Is it true that it is advisable to leave a fake egg in the henhouse?

Hens have the habit of laying eggs where other hens lay: in practice they learn by imitation.

The sight of an egg inside a nest may encourage the first hens to lay there.

In any case, the nest must be placed in a quiet area of the henhouse and, if possible, the use of communal nests is recommended (a closed box with one or two inlets of at least 40 cm by 60 cm base) instead of individual single-hole nests.

Remember, however, that the presence of eggs in a nest does not change a hen's habits: if she is used to laying in an unsuitable place, the presence of eggs in the nest does not change her behaviour.
