The advantages of an ultrasonic humidifier for incubators
For a large hatching, nothing beats an egg incubator, which effectively compensates for the difficulty for the hatchlings to hatch an excessive amount of eggs. If there are no hens to hatch eggs, or if there are too many eggs to hatch, use theautomatic incubator is the ideal solution. Thanks to the controlled and protected internal environment, embryo development is guaranteed on schedule.
In fact, all environmental parameters can be adjusted, such as the temperature and humidity level, the latter provided by an incubator humidifier. After laying and within seven days, the fertile eggs are placed inside the incubator, and it is at this stage that the development of the chick's organs takes place.
Of course, before being laid in the incubator, all eggs are candled, i.e. the presence of the embryo is checked. Here they remain for 21 days, at constant humidity and temperature. For optimal hatching, an incubator humidifier is indispensable, which, by providing the right amount of moisture, promotes proper embryo growth.
So let's see how to use it and which model is best.
How an incubator humidifier works
To develop the embryo properly, the eggs must absolutely remain at a temperature of 37.7 degrees for the duration of the brood. The temperature can fluctuate by a maximum of 0.2 degrees. In order to maintain a constant temperature, the incubator must be placed in a protected, warm and draught-free place.
Ensuring the appropriate humidity level in the incubator is, of course, the humidifier. The device must be filled with water as it is consumed in order to ensure an internal humidity level of 45-55%. Shortly before hatching, the humidity will increase to provide the chick with better cellular respiration. As soon as the first one has hatched, the humidity can be spontaneously increased to 80%. The humidity will remain constant if the incubator is opened and closed as little as possible.
Adequate humidity levels
So, as we have seen, the right level of humidity is necessary in the incubator. During brooding, the correct humidity levels are as follows:
- From day 1 to day 18: The humidity should be kept at about 45% to prevent the shell from filling with liquid and suffocating the chick.
- From day 18 to day 21: Moisture must be higher than 55%, up to even 65%, to prevent the chick from piercing the egg but not getting out, dehydrating itself.
A good incubator humidifier must be reliable and stable. If an appliance does not continuously control the humidity inside the hatching chamber, sudden changes may occur, which are mainly responsible for the death of the chick inside the shell. The more lThe larger the incubator, the more powerful the automatic humidifier must be. Otherwise, it would not be able to produce the right amount of steam to effectively moisturise the eggs and chicks.
Nebula: the features of a good ultrasonic humidifier for incubators
Ultrasonic humidifier for incubators
Nebula is a ultrasonic humidifier for incubators which offers a optimal and constant humidity control, this prevents the production of lasting, undesirable and large fluctuations in temperature and humidity during egg incubation. It is designed and assembled in Italy and is formed by a base, from an LED display, from a water tank, from a connection pipe and by a humidity sensor.
The base is the beating heart of the system that generates the moisture. Inside is an ultrasonic generator, which supplies energy to the water, causing it to produce tiny droplets, which are then instantly vaporised by the heat inside the incubator.

This process merely creates the right humidity, which is then homogenised by the incubator fan. If water is missing, a safety float will indicate this, while a centrifugal fan channels the tiny droplets from the base to the inside of the incubator. Finally, there is a USB port, which is used to connect the humidity sensor.
The LED display is equipped with buttons and icons, which indicate when there is a shortage of water, the number of incubation days and whether the incubator is operating correctly or abnormally. It is also used to set the various parameters.
The water tank
The water tank, made of transparent material, has a capacity of 2 litres and is equipped with an ergonomic opening to make it easy to top up with water, strictly distilled. The closure cap has a valve that prevents water from escaping when filled. Inside the tank is also the connecting pipe, which serves to convey the mist into the incubator. Finally, there is the humidity sensor, which is highly accurate and serves to monitor the humidity inside the incubator.

Recently, Nebula obtained the patent by the Ministry of Economic Development certifying the reliability and quality of the product.

Why choose Nebula for egg incubation
During the incubation process is very difficult to generate and regulate moisture precisely and consistently. An alternative to the use of the automatic humidifier would be to manually add water into special trays in the incubator, so as to create mirrors of water, which then evaporate and increase the humidity inside due to ventilation and temperature.
The problem with this system is that it regulates the temperature crudely, relying only on the sizing of the water mirrors. In the event that the humidity drops, it is sufficient to increase the water level, but if it rises excessively, nothing can be done to decrease it, only to wait for the eggs to absorb it all.
A slightly more advanced system is an automatic and continuous water supply, which is done using a simple pump. This takes water from the reservoir, pours it into the incubator and only stops when the humidity is equal to or above the previously set value. Even in this case, however, there is the limitation of manual control. In addition, the water poured in may exceed the containment capacity of the bottom, thus risking submerging the eggs when they hatch.
Another method is the use of a system with ultrasonic generator ON/OFF, which requires the humidity to be regulated by alternating between switching on at maximum power and switching off completely.
This technique, however, has its limitations. If the injected air is saturated with water, the temperature drops rapidly due to evaporation.
and if there are problems?
The problems exhibited by the systems described above are effectively solved by the continuously variable system of Nebula, which offers the ability to adjust humidity from 30% to 90%, without influencing environmental conditions.
Compatible with all River Systems incubators and many other incubators on the market, Nebula is very precise in its measurements, taking very little time to reach the set humidity level, bringing clean, healthy air into the incubator. Thanks to the constant and stable moisture content, the eggs do not risk being submerged in water and the steam generated does not clog the pores of the eggshell.
