DEPENDING ON THE SEASON OF THE YEAR, ARE THERE ANY TARGETED OPERATIONS TO BE MADE TO THE CHICKEN COOP?

All agricultural activities, including the management of the chicken coop, were always marked by an almanac which, according to the month, indicated the most suitable work for that period. In general, we can give these indications:

  • February – March: collection and incubation of eggs for future hens, assessment of fertility and hatchability of eggs;
  • April: assessment of chick viability and rearing of chicks;
  • May: assessment of the growth index;
  • June – July – August: rearing pullets and assessing their viability;
  • September: selection of pullets and transfer to the hen house;
  • October: start of deposition and assessment of earliness;
  • October – January: capacity assessment;
  • March: weight assessment of eggs laid;
